Watercolor Painting of Green Snake
water color painting of green snake of Tangkoko National Park of North Sulawesi

One of the most difficult media which many artists often experience is watercolor. Watercolor painting is not easy to be mastered. The above painting is about Green Snake in Tangkoko National Park. It is a protected tropical rainforest area located in North Sulawesi. There we can see not only such snake but also various kinds of animals such as babi rusa, monkeys, and a lot of beautiful birds. The green snake shown in this painting came out of its hiding at night to find food. Although the snake look dangerous with its tongue jutted out of its mouth, actually it is not a venomous snake. Such species can also be found in Maluku, Papua and many other islands in Indonesia.

The message that I want to convey to all of you who read this website is that inside an area of tropical rainforest, there are a lot of exotic and rare animals that we have to preserve. They are now facing extinction due to rapid deforestation that occurs throughout the Indonesian archipelago.

Art and Culture Stories

Drawing and Paintings of Charles Roring

Art and culture have been an integral part of human life. The following articles are English reading comprehension material which you can use to enrich your vocabularies particularly those related to painting, dancing, and music. Because I like painting with watercolors very much, many of the articles will be about watercolor. The artworks that I have created in recent years are based on my observations on nature (landscape, seascape, forest) and human activities when I travel around guiding tourists. I consider painting as a hobby. It has not been a profession because of my other works in writing travel stories and guiding tourists. However, I might decide to devote my whole time in the future to this beautiful art media.
