Snorkeling among coral reef in Manokwari city

Snorkeling is a favorite activity which most tourists like to do in Manokwari. It is a city that stretches along the Dorey bay. There are some small islands in the Dorey bay with beautiful corals can be found thriving around them. As a nature lover, I am very fond of swimming and snorkeling among these corals especially when the weather is clear and bright and the sea water is in low tide. Usually, before going to the sea, I will call a local fisherman to inform me when the low tide comes. Why? Because during the low tide, corals reef and the fish can easily be spotted at depths of 0-3 meters. Corals still thrive in deeper sea level but we need scuba diving gear to explore them.

If you are interested in snorkeling or scuba diving in the Dorey bay of Manokwari city, please bring your own diving gear. There is not any diving center in this bay and I don't have diving equipment either. I can bring you to sites in this bay where the condition of corals is still good and where fewer people around. Snorkeling equipment such as mask, snorkel, fins, and vest are not sold in shops in this bay and I recommend that tourists bring their own snorkeling equipment too. To travel around the islands in the Dorey bay, I usually hire outrigger boat that belong to the local fishermen. I hope that by including these local people in this marine tourism industry, they will give more attention in protecting the corals and cleaning the beach so that the negative impact of tourism can be minimized and the environment can be preserved or restored to better condition. To give you an idea of what the Dorey bay look like, I have uploaded some photos of it with come corals that I shot using my digital camera. I hope that they can provide a good preview of this beautiful bay.
